First, I have no relations with Vice news other than having watched their coverage of the recent Charlottesville Unite-The-Right demonstrations.
Apologies if this was circulated before, but if you haven’t yet watched the 22 minute mini-documentary, here it is:
Charlottesville: Race & Terror
Now that the event is over and dust has settled a bit, it is easier to recognize that no other news network that I saw came anywhere close to the quality and diligence of Elle Reeve’s coverage. I didn’t see this kind of embedded, on-the-ground coverage from CNN, MSNBC, or the major networks. Sure, they had their panels of talking heads commenting on and on about the weekend’s events, running over a loop of video shots that ran over and over and over again But that is weak tea as compared to the kind of journalism that puts you there — coverage that was once more the rule than the exception. Just sayin’.
